Registered Childcare Working with Parents Policy
WORKING with PARENTS October 2011

We want you and your child to feel welcome in our home and to work in
partnership with you to meet the needs of the children we care for.

We believe that successful childcare stems from having an honest and communicative relationship with parents.

We see our relationship with you as a partnership - we are sharing the care and early education of your child. It is essential that we have similar values and ideals to ensure a positive impact on their development and learning.

Acceptable behaviour, basic table manners, tolerance of others, sharing and learning through play in a safe and nurturing environment are all-important concepts of early learning.

In line with the EYFS principles, we respect your rights as parents; that you are your children’s first and most enduring educators and welcome your input. We are aware that you know your child best and need as much information from you as possible to enable us to meet your child's needs.

All parents are given the opportunity to make an informed decision before signing a written contract before the placement starts.

We will use the information you enter on the Admission Sheet when your child first comes to our setting and any further information you give us to help us to care for your child according to your values and practices, preferences and attitudes, where possible, and ask you to review and update us as and when required, particularly if any contact numbers or named individuals change.

Please update us in writing of any additional immunisations.
Please let us know if your child has had a bad night, if there are any changes happening at home, if your child has been unwell, is undergoing any treatment or has been given any medication.

We in turn will welcome the opportunity to discuss your child's day, including food, drink and activities provided, and your child’s progress with you and this is usually done when you collect your child. However, if you wish to discuss anything in greater depth, please arrange a mutually convenient preferably child-free time.

We keep informal records of the above by jotting down details relating to all the children in our care on a daily basis, together with photographic records and notes concerning behavioural issues, mood and appetite, which we are happy to share with you. Additionally, we make regular, formal observations of all the children relating these to the EYFS Areas of Learning, enabling us to evaluate and plan activities to assist in their development.

If there are any aspects of care about which you have a reservation, please feel free to raise the issue with us.
